I've been to Wallace collection a fair share of times now but I kind of still feel like I don't know anything about it. I think that a lot of people focus on the art or objects that a museum holds. What fascinates me the most about a museum is the history of the collection or the building. Of course the objects does their work. Something is interesting in a picture, something is made by a famous artist or something has a certain place in a room that just makes the world more beautiful. Maybe that was a bit overkill, but that's kind of what a museum gives me - stories and aesthetically pleasing things. I'm not normally the museum visitor who likes to read all the signs, I like to take time for the things I find interesting or pretty. I'm sure that it is a common rookie mistake for people that they think that they have to read about every single object or painting in a museum. That sure would make it boring. Learn about the stuff you want to, otherwise just walk around and take in the prettiness. I like walking around Wallace collection, the rooms and the art are just stunning. You can sense the history of the house and collection right there. I just don't know what it is. Must go on a guided tour soon and stop taking creepy museum selfies in mirrors.
